Sculpted for Valarie Trapp, screenwriter, foxhunting enthusiast, and for her partner, Martin Campbell, Film Director. Valarie and Martin love to ride and they appreciate each of their horses as an individual character. Commanche, also known as Jazzman, is very animated horse. He is curious, and often makes a sound surprisingly like humming. I spent ten days with Commanche, riding in the hills of Malibu while getting to know his wonderful character. I worked on my sculpture while in a round pen with Commanche where he delighted in picking up my tools and closely inspecting my work. I truly got to know his delightful spirit which I feel was captured in this bronze sculpture of him.

Creating a sculpture for a corporate space entails an interpretation of the vision of the company, a consideration of the aesthetic needs of the employees, and the sympathetic use of the space in which the sculpture is placed. I found fulfilling these three diverse needs challenging and inspiring.
